Sandra Day O’Connor decides to retire from the Supreme Court. My excitement was focused and directed at the great opportunity our President has to nominate a "strict constructionist" of the U.S. Constitution as a judge on the Supreme Court. How cool! I know this makes me sound kind of like a political geek! But as we approach the 4th of July, anything that turns my focus back to our greatness as a free society, the first true democracy in the world, lights a fire inside and reassures me that all the stuff going on around us truly means something to me, my family, my community, and my country. This time and place is all part a plan. One that allows us to continue the pursuit of freedom everyone yearns for on this blue rock called Earth spinning with coordinated grace around the Sun. A place whos' existence can only be explained as being created with some kind of intelligent design.

This Time, this pinnacle in history has such enormous significance that every waking anxious moment I wait for the next exciting chapter to be written. There is a grand fight going on. Forces are drawing lines in the sand. People are being rallied to their causes. The difference between Good and Evil, Right and Wrong are becoming more defined. Even the radical middle and the moderate gray can no longer hide. Exciting! You bet!

This Time has so much to watch and learn. If you could convert this time into a spectator sport or a fantasy league the intrigues and maneuvering would blow your mind. It’s like watching a game with 20 players playing full contact Chess with a board the size of a football field and 500 positioned pieces or each player.

We as a nation have seen extremely significant moments in history. Grand times, terrible times, crazy times and historic times, But this time has it all! It is a time to watch, listen, learn, be involved, fight, love, give, pray and dream. When you sit there tomorrow and you watch those large explosions of fireworks in the night sky. Remember that this time is your time. Your time to do great things. The examples are there. We stand on the shoulders of greatness. It is our duty, our privilege, our turn to protect the ideals and principles that so many have given so much. It is our turn. Freedom is not Free. Greatness comes from ordinary individuals doing extraordinary things.

Have a great 4th of July.

Sean M. I am grateful for the honor of this hour, mindful of the consequential times in which we live, and determined to fulfill the oath that I have sworn and you have witnessed.

At this second gathering, our duties are defined not by the words I use, but by the history we have seen together. For a half century, America defended our own freedom by standing watch on distant borders. After the shipwreck of communism came years of relative quiet, years of repose, years of sabbatical - and then there came a day of fire.

We have seen our vulnerability - and we have seen its deepest source. For as long as whole regions of the world simmer in resentment and tyranny - prone to ideologies that feed hatred and excuse murder - violence will gather, and multiply in destructive power, and cross the most defended borders, and raise a mortal threat. There is only one force of history that can break the reign of hatred and resentment, and expose the pretensions of tyrants, and reward the hopes of the decent and tolerant, and that is the force of human freedom.

We are led, by events and common sense, to one conclusion: The survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands. The best hope for peace in our world is the expansion of freedom in all the world.

America's vital interests and our deepest beliefs are now one. From the day of our Founding, we have proclaimed that every man and woman on this earth has rights, and dignity, and matchless value, because they bear the image of the Maker of Heaven and earth. Across the generations we have proclaimed the imperative of self-government, because no one is fit to be a master, and no one deserves to be a slave. Advancing these ideals is the mission that created our Nation. It is the honorable achievement of our fathers. Now it is the urgent requirement of our nation's security, and the calling of our time.

So it is the policy of the United States to seek and support the growth of democratic movements and institutions in every nation and culture, with the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in our world.

This is not primarily the task of arms, though we will defend ourselves and our friends by force of arms when necessary. Freedom, by its nature, must be chosen, and defended by citizens, and sustained by the rule of law and the protection of minorities. And when the soul of a nation finally speaks, the institutions that arise may reflect customs and traditions very different from our own. America will not impose our own style of government on the unwilling. Our goal instead is to help others find their own voice, attain their own freedom, and make their own way.

The great objective of ending tyranny is the concentrated work of generations. The difficulty of the task is no excuse for avoiding it. America's influence is not unlimited, but fortunately for the oppressed, America's influence is considerable, and we will use it confidently in freedom's cause.

My most solemn duty is to protect this nation and its people against further attacks and emerging threats. Some have unwisely chosen to test America's resolve, and have found it firm.

We will persistently clarify the choice before every ruler and every nation: The moral choice between oppression, which is always wrong, and freedom, which is eternally right. America will not pretend that jailed dissidents prefer their chains, or that women welcome humiliation and servitude, or that any human being aspires to live at the mercy of bullies.

We will encourage reform in other governments by making clear that success in our relations will require the decent treatment of their own people. America's belief in human dignity will guide our policies, yet rights must be more than the grudging concessions of dictators; they are secured by free dissent and the participation of the governed. In the long run, there is no justice without freedom, and there can be no human rights without human liberty.

Some, I know, have questioned the global appeal of liberty - though this time in history, four decades defined by the swiftest advance of freedom ever seen, is an odd time for doubt. Americans, of all people, should never be surprised by the power of our ideals. Eventually, the call of freedom comes to every mind and every soul. We do not accept the existence of permanent tyranny because we do not accept the possibility of permanent slavery. Liberty will come to those who love it.

Today, America speaks anew to the peoples of the world:

All who live in tyranny and hopelessness can know: the United States will not ignore your oppression, or excuse your oppressors. When you stand for your liberty, we will stand with you.

Democratic reformers facing repression, prison, or exile can know: America sees you for who you are: the future leaders of your free country.

The rulers of outlaw regimes can know that we still believe as Abraham Lincoln did: "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves; and, under the rule of a just God, cannot long retain it."

The leaders of governments with long habits of control need to know: To serve your people you must learn to trust them. Start on this journey of progress and justice, and America will walk at your side.

And all the allies of the United States can know: we honor your friendship, we rely on your counsel, and we depend on your help. Division among free nations is a primary goal of freedom's enemies. The concerted effort of free nations to promote democracy is a prelude to our enemies' defeat.

Today, I also speak anew to my fellow citizens:

From all of you, I have asked patience in the hard task of securing America, which you have granted in good measure. Our country has accepted obligations that are difficult to fulfill, and would be dishonorable to abandon. Yet because we have acted in the great liberating tradition of this nation, tens of millions have achieved their freedom. And as hope kindles hope, millions more will find it. By our efforts, we have lit a fire as well - a fire in the minds of men. It warms those who feel its power, it burns those who fight its progress, and one day this untamed fire of freedom will reach the darkest corners of our world.

A few Americans have accepted the hardest duties in this cause - in the quiet work of intelligence and diplomacy ... the idealistic work of helping raise up free governments ... the dangerous and necessary work of fighting our enemies. Some have shown their devotion to our country in deaths that honored their whole lives - and we will always honor their names and their sacrifice.

All Americans have witnessed this idealism, and some for the first time. I ask our youngest citizens to believe the evidence of your eyes. You have seen duty and allegiance in the determined faces of our soldiers. You have seen that life is fragile, and evil is real, and courage triumphs. Make the choice to serve in a cause larger than your wants, larger than yourself - and in your days you will add not just to the wealth of our country, but to its character.

America has need of idealism and courage, because we have essential work at home - the unfinished work of American freedom. In a world moving toward liberty, we are determined to show the meaning and promise of liberty.

In America's ideal of freedom, citizens find the dignity and security of economic independence, instead of laboring on the edge of subsistence. This is the broader definition of liberty that motivated the Homestead Act, the Social Security Act, and the G.I. Bill of Rights. And now we will extend this vision by reforming great institutions to serve the needs of our time. To give every American a stake in the promise and future of our country, we will bring the highest standards to our schools, and build an ownership society. We will widen the ownership of homes and businesses, retirement savings and health insurance - preparing our people for the challenges of life in a free society. By making every citizen an agent of his or her own destiny, we will give our fellow Americans greater freedom from want and fear, and make our society more prosperous and just and equal.

In America's ideal of freedom, the public interest depends on private character - on integrity, and tolerance toward others, and the rule of conscience in our own lives. Self-government relies, in the end, on the governing of the self. That edifice of character is built in families, supported by communities with standards, and sustained in our national life by the truths of Sinai, the Sermon on the Mount, the words of the Koran, and the varied faiths of our people. Americans move forward in every generation by reaffirming all that is good and true that came before - ideals of justice and conduct that are the same yesterday, today, and forever.

In America's ideal of freedom, the exercise of rights is ennobled by service, and mercy, and a heart for the weak. Liberty for all does not mean independence from one another. Our nation relies on men and women who look after a neighbor and surround the lost with love. Americans, at our best, value the life we see in one another, and must always remember that even the unwanted have worth. And our country must abandon all the habits of racism, because we cannot carry the message of freedom and the baggage of bigotry at the same time.

From the perspective of a single day, including this day of dedication, the issues and questions before our country are many. From the viewpoint of centuries, the questions that come to us are narrowed and few. Did our generation advance the cause of freedom? And did our character bring credit to that cause?

These questions that judge us also unite us, because Americans of every party and background, Americans by choice and by birth, are bound to one another in the cause of freedom. We have known divisions, which must be healed to move forward in great purposes - and I will strive in good faith to heal them. Yet those divisions do not define America. We felt the unity and fellowship of our nation when freedom came under attack, and our response came like a single hand over a single heart. And we can feel that same unity and pride whenever America acts for good, and the victims of disaster are given hope, and the unjust encounter justice, and the captives are set free.

We go forward with complete confidence in the eventual triumph of freedom. Not because history runs on the wheels of inevitability; it is human choices that move events. Not because we consider ourselves a chosen nation; God moves and chooses as He wills. We have confidence because freedom is the permanent hope of mankind, the hunger in dark places, the longing of the soul. When our Founders declared a new order of the ages; when soldiers died in wave upon wave for a union based on liberty; when citizens marched in peaceful outrage under the banner "Freedom Now" - they were acting on an ancient hope that is meant to be fulfilled. History has an ebb and flow of justice, but history also has a visible direction, set by liberty and the Author of Liberty.

When the Declaration of Independence was first read in public and the Liberty Bell was sounded in celebration, a witness said, "It rang as if it meant something." In our time it means something still. America, in this young century, proclaims liberty throughout all the world, and to all the inhabitants thereof. Renewed in our strength - tested, but not weary - we are ready for the greatest achievements in the history of freedom.

May God bless you, and may He watch over the United States of America.

Sean M. Here, in their own words, as told to decorated combat veteran Lt. Colonel Oliver North, are the compelling, personal stories of American veterans - soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines—about what it was really like to fight in the Pacific.

In War Stories II: Heroism in the Pacific, you’ll experience the fierce combat at Bougainville, Peleliu, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa; you’ll fly into flak with the fabled Flying Tigers and the Black Sheep Squadron of Pappy Boyington; and you’ll come face-to-face with the enemy, as North interviews the Japanese veterans who fought so tenaciously against us. In War Stories II: Heroism in the Pacific, North reveals: • The secret plan behind Japan’s belief that it could defeat the United States • Eyewitness testimony from Pearl Harbor veterans that Japanese Zeros did not fire the first shots: Our defending forces did—with startling results • The living hell of the Bataan Death March and the daring rescue of the Ghosts of Bataan • The "impossible" mission of the daring Doolittle Raid • MacArthur’s dramatic and emotional return to the Philippines • The Big Battles: the Coral Sea, Midway, Guadalcanal, the Marianas, Leyte • The forgotten China-Burma-India Theater • How Americans cracked the secret Japanese JN-25 code and changed the course of the war War Stories II: Heroism in the Pacific is the essential book for every veteran of the war, every student of military history, and every American who is inspired by the courage and sacrifice of the Greatest Generation in one of its greatest moments.

Sean M. After all, we must recognize them at present as a political party. On that basis we have exposed their lies when we came across them, we have opposed their propaganda, and I can certainly testify that in the case of the Screen Actors Guild we have been eminently successful in preventing them from, with their usual tactics, trying to run a majority of an organization with a well organized minority.

In opposing those people, the best thing to do is make democracy work. In the Screen Actors Guild we make it work by insuring everyone a vote and by keeping everyone informed. I believe that, as Thomas Jefferson put it, if all the American people know all of the facts they will never make a mistake. Whether the party should be outlawed, that is a matter for the government to decide. As a citizen, I would hesitate to see any political party outlawed on the basis of its political ideology. However, if it is proven that an organization is an agent of foreign power, or in any way not a legitimate political party -- and I think the government is capable of proving that -- then that is another matter. I happen to be very proud of the industry in which I work; I happen to be very proud of the way in which we conducted the fight. I do not believe the communists have ever at any time been able to use the motion picture screen as a sounding board for their philosophy or ideology.

REAGAN: Sir, I detest, I abhor their philosophy, but I detest more than that their tactics, which are those of the fifth column, and are dishonest, but at the same time I never as a citizen want to see our country become urged, by either fear or resentment of this group, that we ever compromise with any of our democratic principles through that fear or resentment. I still think that democracy can do it.

I know that using the term "Communist" today is not PC. But "Liberal/Democrats" are organized, they have an agenda and they are spewing their propaganda. One the most dangerous examples that Democrats are completely submerged in Liberalism can be found in our schools. "Liberal/Democrats" support for banning the flag, distributing condoms, allowing planned parenthood brochures, showings of Michael Moore's film (with teachers guide), teaching relative truth (if it works, than its true), stripping away the foundations of history and re-writing it and separating our children from the teachings of their parents in our schools. They are going After the children because they are the future.

There is an active culture shift agenda that links the Liberals to Hollywood to Democrats to Our education system to Washington D.C. to Socialism to Control & Power over the population. "Communism Lite" (Democrats) knows the answer to "Who's your Daddy!" Answer: Government!

Sean M. I am in the middle of a book called “Beyond Belief to Convictions” by Mr. McDowell. The topic centers on how to reach our children in a post modern world. Post modern relative truth has become the staple of teaching in many of our education institutions and even churches. This has created a crisis of truth in our society. This crisis has now reached our most highly regarded political post in the country. I remember a time when children considered the office of the President the most honorable job in the land.

I listen to many talk radio shows that continue to say things like “I don’t understand them!” or “What is the other side thinking?” Most topics have become dividing rods. No middle ground exists and very few discussions take place.

If we are to understand what is going on we should focus on the differences first. Not the differences on the topic but the differences in belief.

Let’s look at post modern beliefs: (From Josh McDowell’s book Beyond Belief to Convictions – My interpretations)

No Objective Truth. Everything is subject to interpretation.

“Fundamental Stories” and ideology are rejected as truth and reality.

Cultures and Communities create their own truth through science, education or religion

The identities of the individual are defined by the culture and lack the uniqueness created in each person by God.

One culture's created belief become different from another’s created beliefs. This creates a fractured society.

One group’s truth that fundamentally opposes a line-by-line, point-by-point value structures create an unfavorable power play and a fight for domination.

When the comments are made that the other group is living in another world. They are! A world that has been created out of their own beliefs based on what percieve works.

Relative Truth = If is Works it must be True.
Absolute Truth = If it is True than it Works.

John Kerry is a fine example of a post modern man. We see this in his example on abortion. Kerry has taken the position that he has strong beliefs in his faith. He also claims that he will not impose his beliefs on others. His beliefs are not convictions and can change depending on the outcome of what works. That is the foundation of his decision making and has created a record that leads people to joke about Kerry being a Flip-Flopper.

Kerry’s core values can be considered more of nuances. The political winds of change have created a politician with not absolute truths in life.

If you listen to President Bush you will hear convictions and fundamental principles. President Bush may have views that the right wing, neo-conservative are not confortable and the liberal media/world go crazy when Bush falls on his knees. But everyone knows who Bush is whether you like him or not. People hate that President Bush's Faith is based in the Truth and that is why we currently see such a hard fought campaign against him.

The Truth is always going to have a hard fight and history show that it always wins in the end. We need to focus on the Truth and continue to spread it.

The Truth will beat the dimpled, pregnant, cocaine vote registered, fake military draft, scare-the-elderly votes of a confused culture.

Sean M. However, the Agency pulled out of the country on the eve of the war last year, and since then has been concentrating on analyzing information collected since it began those checks. In August, the Agency did complete a separate, physical inspection of nuclear safeguards under the terms of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Mr. ElBaradei said through visits to other countries, the IAEA had been able to identify quantities of industrial items, some radioactively contaminated, that had been transferred out of Iraq from sites monitored by the Agency. However, none of the high-quality dual-use equipment or materials referred to above has been found, he added.

“ As the disappearance of such equipment and materials may be of proliferation significance, any State that has information about the location of such items should provide the IAEA with that information, he said.

Mr. ElBaradei also said the IAEA is considering requests by Iraq for help with the sale of leftover nuclear material at its Tuwaitha facility, except for a small batch for research purposes; the dismantling and decontamination of former nuclear facilities; and the resumption of IAEA assistance under a number of technical cooperation projects that had been suspended since December 1998.

Regime Strategic Intent

This report relays the findings of the Special Advisor to the Director of Central Intelligence on Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Key Findings
Saddam Husayn so dominated the Iraqi Regime that its strategic intent was his alone. He wanted to end sanctions while preserving the capability to reconstitute his weapons of mass destruction (WMD) when sanctions were lifted.

• Saddam totally dominated the Regime’s strategic decision making. He initiated most of the strategic thinking upon which decisions were made, whether in matters of war and peace (such as invading Kuwait), maintaining WMD as a national strategic goal, or on how Iraq was to position itself in the international community. Loyal dissent was discouraged and constructive variations to the implementation of his wishes on
strategic issues were rare. Saddam was the Regime in a strategic sense and his intent became Iraq's strategic policy.

• Saddam's primary goal from 1991 to 2003 was to have UN sanctions lifted, while maintaining the security of the Regime. He sought to balance the need to cooperate with UN inspections to gain support for lifting sanctions with his intention to preserve Iraq's intellectual capital for WMD with a minimum of foreign intrusiveness and loss of face. Indeed, this remained the goal to the end of the Regime, as the starting of any WMD program, conspicuous or otherwise, risked undoing the progress achieved in eroding sanctions and jeopardizing a political end to the embargo and international monitoring.

• The introduction of the Oil-For-Food program (OFF) in late 1996 was a key turning point for the Regime. OFF rescued Baghdad's economy from a terminal decline created by sanctions. The Regime quickly came to see that OFF could be corrupted to acquire foreign exchange both to further undermine sanctions and to provide the means to enhance dual-use infrastructure and potential WMD-related development. By 2000-2001, Saddam had managed to mitigate many of the effects of sanctions and undermine their international support. Iraq was within striking distance of a de facto end to the sanctions regime, both in terms of oil exports and the trade embargo, by the end of 1999. Saddam wanted to recreate Iraq's WMD capability which was essentially destroyed in 1991 after sanctions were removed and Iraq's economy stabilized, but probably with a different mix of capabilities to that which previously existed. Saddam aspired to develop a nuclear capability in an incremental fashion, irrespective of international pressure and the resulting economic risks but he intended to focus on ballistic missile and tactical chemical warfare (CW) capabilities.

• Iran was the pre-eminent motivator of this policy. All senior level Iraqi offi cials considered Iran to be Iraq's principal enemy in the region. The wish to balance Israel and acquire status and infl uence in the Arab world were also considerations, but secondary.

• Iraq Survey Group (ISG) judges that events in the 1980s and early 1990s shaped Saddam’s belief in the value of WMD. In Saddam's view, WMD helped to save the Regime multiple times. He believed that during the Iran-Iraq war chemical weapons had halted Iranian ground offensives and that ballistic missile attacks on Tehran had broken its political will. Similarly, during Desert Storm, Saddam believed WMD had deterred Coalition Forces from pressing their attack beyond the goal of freeing Kuwait. WMD had even played a role in crushing the Shi'a revolt in the south following the 1991 cease-fire.

• The former Regime had no formal written strategy or plan for the revival of WMD after sanctions. Neither was there an identifi able group of WMD policy makers or planners separate from Saddam. Instead, his lieutenants understood WMD revival was his goal from their long association with Saddam and his infrequent, but firm, verbal comments and directions to them.

Sean M. That's the earliest it has been since 1991. It's latest day ever was May 2nd, which occurred in 2000. Notice anything special about those dates?

Recently, John Kerry gave a speech in which he claimed Americans are
actually paying more taxes under Bush, despite the tax cuts. He gave
no explanation and provided no data for this claim.

Another interesting fact: Both George Bush and John Kerry are wealthy men.
Bush owns only one home, his ranch in Texas. Kerry owns 4 mansions,
all worth several million dollars. (His ski resort home in Idaho is an old barn
brought over from Europe in pieces. Not your average A-frame).

Bush paid $250,000 in taxes this year; Kerry paid $90,000.
Does that sound right? The man who wants to raise your taxes obviously has figured out a way to avoid paying his own.

Sean M. Because of the continued fighting that is going on in the world I wanted to stop and look at the challenges we face as we stand just inside the entrance of the post 9/11 world.

<img border="0" src="http://www.81x.com/Authors/4givnpir8/WW%20II/snapshotsofthepast_1791_70101181.jpg"height="400">
Poster created during World War II

Of course our first half step into this mess can be labeled “Shock and Awe”. Why do we insist on being so forceful? Great question! Let me lay some ground work first before I approach answering.

Our country’s foundation dates back to a time when educated aristocrats managed the affairs of state. There was an air of civility which from time-to-time was only a front that was built up to deal with man’s utter brutality. Diplomacy was the order of the day and because of the lack of rapid communications, time was available to formulate a solid position on matters of state. Rapid response was only necessary when slow moving diplomacy finally broke down.

British intervention in America from 1621 until 1756 was very little. When the British began to impose their will in 1765 (Stamp Act) and not allow an equal voice in parliament, the colonists pushed back slowly. It was not until the Boston Massacre, March of 1770, that diplomacy started to break down. Two years later we see the Gaspée Incident, June of 1772, Rhode Island citizens burn the British naval cutter, the Gaspée, after it runs aground. One year after, December of 1773, the Boston Tea party event takes place. All of these events eventually lead up to war. During this same time span, the slow death of diplomacy was taking place. Why is this important? The colonist slowly found themselves moving from English citizens to oppressed people. Oppressed people don’t just “know” they are being treated unfairly, they “feel” it. The desire for Liberty and Freedom has to come from the heart. The colonist had enjoyed over 150 years of individual control over their own lives. The opportunities they were afforded in this “New World” were slowly evaporating. The birth of the American Dream was beginning to be choked. Freedom is a not a thought, but a feeling, a desire. It is a part of every individual and once you have a taste of it you will fight to keep it.

Liberty vs. Diplomacy vs. Force
Diplomacy works when you have a military advantage, but even then that advantage does not always defeat your opposition. If I were to choose between two fighters, one with the heart of Liberty and the other with the mind of Diplomacy, I would choose Liberty every time. When oppression happens suddenly or a population seizes the opportunity to fight, the critical mass can become a major force and formidable movement towards Liberty. Back in the 1770’s diplomacy lost and force took its’ place. The Revolutionary War was a struggle fueled by the desire of Liberty and Freedom.

Saddam & George III
King, Dictator, Ruler… call it what you will. A single ruling individual that choices the Rights, Freedoms (or lack there of) and Liberty. Leaves the misrepresentative citizens with no say. The citizens then have one of two options. Accept oppression or fight for Liberty.

Terrorist vs. Freedom Fighter
Recently I have had discussions with a knowledgeable Rino (Republican in Name Only). He has described the colonists during the Revolutionary War as terrorists. AHHHHH! His argument makes me want to kick Michael Moore for dumbing down our county. And he also claims that the terrorist could be considered Freedom Fighters. Here is my definition of a Freedom Fighter: an individual or organized group that’s purpose is to free itself from an oppressive ruler or government with the specific intent of freeing the people and allowing the people to decide how their territory and life within should be managed. Freedom Fighters use tactics that Liberals spin into actions that look like terrorist attacks. But here is the big difference. Freedom Fighters do not kill their own people on purpose. Freedom Fighters are enablers and liberators. Terrorists attack to cause terror, create chaos and control through fear. Terrorist will do anything for the “power grab” They use religion as a front; they use the same Nazi fascist tactics. They are disablers and oppressors that have an evil in their heart that can only be traced back to the devil. Opps! Did I just include a reference to the bible? Terrorist do not have a single shred of morality in their soul.

O.K. so I have covered: Liberty comes from the heart, Force trumps Diplomacy, definitions of Terrorist and Freedom Fighters, Oppressed people have a choice. So what the heck is my point? Governments around the world survive only through control. Liberty will undermine many different forms of government and that terrifies those leaders (Dictators) currently in power. Our government has its flaws but has created vast amounts of Liberty that no other country has ever enjoyed. As democracy takes root in the Middle East we watch with bated breath hoping that what sprouts will produce good fruit. I am worried that it won’t. The current situation in Iraq has promise. But the people have not been forced to fight themselves out of the corner they were pushed into. The idea of Liberty and Freedom are words that have not taken up a place in the heart and soul of the county yet. I pray that as the fight against the terrorist within their borders continue. The people of Iraq begin their own fight for Liberty, that they take control of their government, that they decide that building up their county trumps religious, cultural and social divisions. The dictator is gone but without the Iraqi people creating their own critical mass, they may be headed for another form of dictatorship or civil war. Iraqi’s need to form their own Freedom Fighting Force and fight their way towards Liberty against the enemy within. Without the desire to be free they will collapse.

So back to the question: Why do we insist on being so forceful? Force against a stationary object creates momentum. Initially it can be extremely difficult to move. The amount of initial brute force sometimes needs to be extreme for change to take place. 3000 people died on September 11th because a negative force pushed us into war. The enemy does not have borders and will target citizens. The brute force used to bring down the WTC need to be answered. Diplomacy failed because the opponent literally has nothing to lose. They will only understand force. You can’t enable sanctions and create resolutions ( Spineless U.N.). International law is not recognized by the terrorists and morality is non-existence. This army of fanatics can only be dealt with the way someone would handle a termite infestation in their home. You bomb it! Never in my life time do I expect Osama to sit down at the peace table and sign a formal treaty. Our Declaration of Independence from terror was signed in the blood of every individual that died in those towers and on the battlefront. Liberty and Freedom must prevail if the world hopes to someday be free of terror.

Sean M. The defeat of terror, the protection of human rights, the spread of prosperity, the advance of democracy -- these causes, these ideals, call us to great work in the world. Each of us alone can only do so much. Together, we can accomplish so much more.
History will honor the high ideals of this organization. The charter states them with clarity: "to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war," "to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights," "to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom."
Let history also record that our generation of leaders followed through on these ideals, even in adversity. Let history show that in a decisive decade, members of the United Nations did not grow weary in our duties, or waver in meeting them. John F. Kerry really own a "Communist Chinese assault rifle," as he suggested in an interview in the latest edition of Outdoor Life magazine? The Second Amendment Foundation says if the senator does own such a rifle, it wants to know where Kerry keeps it, if it is legally registered, and how he got it into the United States. "Senator Kerry's own words once again trip him up in an apparent hypocrisy," SAF Founder Alan Gottlieb said in a press release. "Responding to a question from Outdoor Life ( http://www.outdoorlife.com/outdoor/news/article/0,19912,696240-4,00.html ) about whether he is a gun owner, and if so, what's his favorite gun, Kerry strongly intimates he has an assault rifle, which is illegal to own both in Massachusetts and Washington, D.C." The Kerry quote appears on Page 82 of the October issue of Outdoor Life. He told the magazine, "My favorite gun is the M-16 that saved my life and that of my crew in Vietnam. I don't own one of those now, but one of my reminders of my service is a Communist Chinese assault rifle." Gottlieb called it another example of Kerry running on his Vietnam service history: "Now he's talking as if he's got an assault rifle stashed somewhere, while he's been railing against their ownership by other law-abiding American citizens," Gottlieb added. Kerry supported an extension of the so-called assault weapons ban, which expired on Monday. Last week, at a campaign stop in St. Louis, he said, "As a hunter, I have never ever thought about going hunting with an AK-47 or an Uzi or anything else." "Senator Kerry, where's the rifle?" Gottlieb asked. "In which one of your mansions are you hiding that gun? Why should it be okay for you to have a Communist Chinese assault rifle when you think nobody else should have one? And if you don't have one, why would you intimate to Outdoor Life that you do?"

Kerry has made it a point to appeal to gun owners by staging a number of gun-friendly photo-ops on the campaign trail.

Kerry says it's 'plain wrong' to let weapons ban expire
__________________________________________________

''For the first time in 10 years, when a killer walks in a gun shop, when a terrorist goes to a gun show somewhere in America, if they want to purchase an AK-47 or some other military assault weapon, they are going to hear one word - sure,'' Kerry said. ''Today George Bush chose to make the job of terrorists easier and make the job of police officers harder, and that's just plain wrong.''

Rifle AK 47 Chinese Type 56
___________________________________________________

A Chinese AK 47 is known as the Type 56 rifle. Chinese made Type 56 rifles were extensively used in Vietnam by the Viet Cong who found them to be ideal weapons for soldiers who were mostly small and slight by Western standards. They are also found in considerable numbers in the Yemen and other Middle East countries and as insurgent weapons in African nations.

John Kerry on Gun Control
___________________________________________________
http://www.issues2000.org/2004/John_Kerry_Gun_Control.htm

Gun owner & hunter, but rights come with responsibility - John Kerry is a gun owner and hunter, and he believes that law-abiding American adults have the right to own guns. But like all of our rights, gun rights come with responsibilities, and those rights allow for reasonable restrictions to keep guns out of the wrong hands. John Kerry strongly supports all of the federal gun laws on the books, and he would take steps to ensure that they are vigorously enforced, cracking down hard on the gun runners, corrupt dealers, straw buyers, and thieves that are putting guns into the hands of criminals in the first place. He will also close the gun show loophole, which is allowing criminals to get access to guns at gun shows without background checks, fix the background check system, which is in a serious state of disrepair, and require that all handguns be sold with a child safety lock.
Source: Campaign website, JohnKerry.com, "Issues" Mar 21, 2004

Democratic Party shouldn't be for the NRA
Q: Do you find it necessary to kill animals for photo-ops?
A: I don't think the Democratic Party should be the candidacy of the NRA. And when I was fighting to ban assault weapons in 1992 and 1993, Dean was appealing to the NRA for their endorsement, and he got it. I believe it's important for us to have somebody who is going to stand up for gun safety in America and make certain that we make our streets safe, our children safe, and not allow people to get assault weapons in America.
Source: CNN "Rock The Vote" Democratic Debate Nov 5, 2003

Supports assault weapons ban & Brady Bill
Q: Your views on gun safety.
KERRY: There's a story in today's Washington Post that says that Democrats are going to run away from the issue of gun safety. I don't think that we can get elected nationally if we are not prepared to stand up against powerful special interests. Too many die each year from guns. I am for the assault weapons ban. I'm for the Brady Bill.
Source: Democratic Presidential 2004 Primary Debate in Detroit Oct 27, 2003

John Edwards on Gun Control
______________________________________________________
http://www.issues2000.org/2004/John_Edwards_Gun_Control.htm

Right to bear arms protected by Second Amendment, with rules I believe the right to bear arms is protected by the Second Amendment. I also support reasonable measures to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, including closing the gun show loophole and vigorously enforcing gun laws.
Source: 2004 Presidential National Political Awareness Test Mar 3, 2004

Hunting is fine, but criminals & kids should have limits
Q: How will your gun stance play among Southern voters?
EDWARDS: I grew up in the rural South. Everyone around me hunted, everyone had guns. I respect and believe in people's Second Amendment rights. That does not, however, mean that somebody needs an AK-47 to hunt. It does not mean that somebody who's been convicted of a violent crime should be able to walk out of prison, walk across the street and buy a gun. It does not mean that we shouldn't take every step that we can take to keep guns safe and keep guns out of the hands of kids. So, my belief is, first, I defend people's Second Amendment rights, but I don't think it's without limit.
Q: What federal gun control measures you would propose?
EDWARDS: I think we should extend the Brady Bill, which is set to expire. I think that we need to close forever the gun-show loophole, [to avoid criminals] buying a gun. I think it does make sense to have trigger locks for the purpose of keeping guns safe from children.
Source: Democratic 2004 Primary Debate at St. Anselm College Jan 22, 2004

The Rev. He said it would now become easier for groups like al Qaeda to get the weapons.
“So, tomorrow for the first time in 10 years when a killer walks into a gun shop, when a terrorist goes to a gun show somewhere in America, when they want to purchase an AK-47 or some other military assault weapon, they’re going to hear one word: ’Sure,”’ Kerry told supporters in Washington.
“When his powerful and well-connected friends asked for a massive tax cut, he said ’sure’ and he’s paid for it by gutting the COPS program, slashing gang prevention and cutting enforcement programs that keep drugs like meth off the streets,” Kerry said.

<img border="0" src="http://www.81x.com/Authors/4givnpir8/kerry_rifle.jpg"height="200">

Kerry Spot [ jim geraghty reporting ]http://www.nationalreview.com/kerry/kerryspot.asp
Chuck Canterbury, national president of the Fraternal Order of Police, today [9/10/04] announced the organization's endorsement of President George W. Bush in his reelection effort.
"For the past four years, President George W. Bush has proved himself to be one of the very best friends that rank-and-file law enforcement officers have ever had," Canterbury said from Albuquerque, N.M., where the group's National Board is meeting this weekend. "We are fortunate to have this man in the White House and we are proud to give him our endorsement today."
For a candidate to receive the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police, he must receive a two-third majority of the National Board, which comprises one Trustee from each of the organization's State Lodges. President Bush received the unanimous endorsement of the National Board.
"Our National Board, and the more than 318,000 members of the F.O.P., are very well acquainted with the President's record with respect to law enforcement because he has made the F.O.P. a partner in crafting national law enforcement policy," Canterbury said. "He has always been there for the rank-and-file officer, and we are eager to be there for him in November."
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Crime remains low - 30 year low.
